Captan
It is mainly used as a protective fungicide and has a good control effect on many diseases of crops such as barley, wheat, oats, rice, corn, cotton, vegetables, fruit trees, melons and tobacco.
Captan provides protection against a wide range of fruit rots, leaf spots, and blights in many crops. It's particularly effective against Botrytis, scab, and various storage rot pathogens in fruit production systems.
The product forms a protective barrier on plant surfaces that prevents fungal spore germination and penetration. Regular applications maintain this protective shield throughout the growing season.
While reasonably rainfast once dry, heavy rainfall may wash the protective coating from plant surfaces, potentially requiring reapplication to maintain adequate disease protection.
The dust can be irritating, so proper respiratory protection is essential during mixing. Always follow label instructions for required personal protective equipment during handling and application.
While an older product, Captan remains valuable for its broad-spectrum activity, low resistance risk, and cost-effectiveness, especially when used in rotation with newer systemic fungicides.
