Spirotetramat is the only fully systemic insecticide with true phloem and xylem mobility (ambimobile), enabling protection of new growth and movement to untreated plant parts. It controls all life stages of target pests including eggs, larvae, and adults through its unique lipid biosynthesis inhibition (IRAC Group 23).
The insecticide is particularly effective against armored scales, soft scales, whiteflies, aphids, and mealybugs in crops like citrus, grapes, pome fruits, and vegetables. It provides excellent control of hidden and soil-dwelling stages that other insecticides cannot reach.
The oil dispersion (OD) formulation enhances rainfastness and leaf penetration compared to SC or WDG formulations. The oil carrier improves spreading and uptake while reducing photodegradation. OD typically provides longer residual control and better performance under high temperature conditions.
Initial effects on pest feeding may be seen within 24 hours, but full population reduction takes 5-7 days as the compound works systemically. Maximum efficacy is typically achieved 10-14 days after application as the insecticide reaches all plant parts.
Wear chemical-resistant gloves (nitrile or neoprene), protective eyewear, long-sleeved clothing, and shoes plus socks during handling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Re-entry interval is typically 12-24 hours after application. Observe all label precautions regarding protective equipment and application restrictions.
